A LED 3D TV REVIEW: SONY BRAVIA XBR HX900

Today is a brand new day and a brand new television to reveal. Yes, another LED 3D TV is made by Sony Electronics and it is the Sony BRAVIA XBR HX900. This television is 3D ready with the addition of Sony active shutter glasses and transmitter. It is a full HD with 1920×1080p resolution. Plus, it also features an Intelligent Dynamic LED Backlight and Sony’s new Monolithic Design.

This television utilizes the Full Array LED backlighting technology which enhances contrast and dynamic range by local dimming that controls the LED backlight level by area maintaining every detail in the dark areas while other areas are driven to near peak brightness. Unnecessary light emission is reduced resulting in true and deep blacks compared to conventional LED backlit models.

Another feature of Sony XBR HX900 is the new ambient sensor which automatically optimizes the TV’s color and brightness according to the lighting conditions and room environment for optimized settings. This television offers 4HDMI inputs, one component input, one composite input, and a PC input with PC/TV picture in picture.

With Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology, consumers will enjoy the silky smooth movement scene. Now you can be assured that moving images are in fluid and crisp detail. BRAVIA Engine 3 technology ensures picture quality that is breath taking with reduced visual noise, improved color and overall image detail. It also features a monolithic design concept which can be displayed at a six degree upward slant, producing the most natural viewing experience, especially with the lower TV stands.

OptiContrast panel is a new feature incorporated in Sony XBR HX900. This feature minimizes the reflection and refraction of external and internal light producing deeper images with superior black levels even in bright rooms. With this technology you don’t have to view in a dark room just to avoid reflections and refractions. This technology is designed with a clear surface treatment and a resin sheet which is sandwiched between the LCD display panel and the glass plate.

There is also a built in WiFi (802.11) that allows easy access to BRAVIA internet videos, widgets and personal content through DLNA or what we call Digital Living Network Alliance certified home networks. Once you are connected, you can have access to thousands of streaming movies, videos, music and more from different providers through the Sony BRAVIA Internet Video Platform. With a touch of a button, you can also have access on the latest weather, news, USA Today sports, Yahoo Finance, Twitter, Flickr photos and FrameChannel through small applications called BRAVIA Internet Widgets. You can modify where you want to locate your different widgets on your HDTV screen for a custom viewing experience.

Unlike the Sony XBR LX900 which utilizes the edge backlighting technology, the Sony XBR HX900 features Intelligent Dynamic LED backlight formed from a Full array of LEDS. With this, better contrast can be provided as it can dim the backlight by area. Perfect blacks can be provided in some areas but bright vivid colors in other areas at the same time.
