Almost everyone in this world watches TV.  Everyday in our lives we normally watch 5 to 6 hours depending on our mood and our availability. Don’t you know that TVs can influence the mind due to its effects on the brain?

There is an easy access to the subconscious mind where viewing a TV show puts the viewer in a sleep or hypnotic state. Our brain activity switches from the left side to the right side when we watch TV. The left side of the brain is responsible for critical analysis and logical thought while the right side of the brain is responsible for the emotional response. This means that the incoming information from the television is not critically analyzed or if there is any, it would only analyze little information.  The activity that occurs in the brain causes the release of certain chemicals that sedates us or makes us feel good. So there is a possibility that all of us can be addicted to TVs if there is a constant daily exposure.

Don’t you know that our brain thinks the TV is real? Have you noticed when you watch a romantic movie, you sometimes feel that you are in the shoes of the character and you are the one who’s being romanced by the other character? When we watch horror movies, why do we get nervous and anticipate that something bad if going to happen to the character? Yes, our brain thinks that what we watch is real because our subconscious minds think that it is real. This is why our hearts beat faster when watching horror movies.

So if you want to benefit from TVs, watch worthy shows that helps you to learn more and gain more information. Watch something that would make you happy even after the show has ended.
