  • I don’t know why you would want to do that but Sony televisions don’t have the ability to disable the sound from the commercials. However, Sony television models with steady sound volume control can regulate the maximum volume levels of a program to prevent from being overwhelmed with sudden fluctuations in volume which sometimes occurs when transitioning from a program to a commercial.

Why is the sound only heard from one speaker?

  • You can do some troubleshooting if the sound is only hear from one speaker on the television.
  1. Ensure the MTS option in the Audio menu is set to stereo.
  2. If available, try adjusting the balance option in the Audio menu.
  3. Ensure any audio cables linked to the TV from other devices are connected properly.
  4. Perform a power reset on the television.

If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

Why are the audio and video out of sync?

  • When watching a television program and you notice that audio and video are out of sync, reset the television to the original factory setting.
  • But if for instances that the reset procedure does not work or if the issue occurs on one channel only, contact the broadcasting network or cable provider for further assistance.
  • If the audio and video is coming from a DVD Player, or Digital Satellite System (DSS) receiver, alternate trouble shooting is required.

1. The audio and video are out of sync when playing a DVD Disc

  • If the audio and video are out of sync when playing a DVD disc, attempt to play different DVDs in the player. If the issue occurs with only one or a couple of DVDs, the sync issue is most likely related to the discs being played. If the issue occurs with all DVDs, then the DVD player may require service.
  • If the issue unresolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.

2. The audio and video are out of sync when playing from DSS

  • Perform a cold boot on the Digital Satellite System (DSS) receiver to try resolving this issue.
  • If the issue is not resolved, check if the audio and video are out of sync on other channels. If one or more channels are out of sync, the problem is most likely with the broadcast and the service provider should be contacted. If all channels are out of sync, then the DSS receiver may require service.
  • If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required. The Sony® eService Web site can assist you in obtaining service from a Sony Service Center or locating a Sony Authorized Servicer.
